Fighting Islamists is a free, sourced guide to Islamism, Islamist terrorism and Sharia law. It is published by The Analyst. This page says what the site is, how it handles facts, how to report an error and how search and AI tools may use it.
What the site is #
- A set of guides on Islamism, Islamist terrorism and Sharia law, with a research file, a Quran study and a debate guide.
- A free booklet, Fighting Islamists 101. The main pages are also in eight other languages.
- A separate section, Immigration Issues, with sourced reports on the United States, Somali communities, France and the world.
- Dated briefings on new events.
- No advertising and no paywall. You may read, copy and quote any page.
Words we use #
Islam is the religion. Islamism is the political ideology that wants to impose one reading of Islamic law on a whole society. Muslims are the people, and most Muslims are not Islamists. The site criticises Islamism, and the laws, doctrines and institutions that carry it, not people for their faith. Please keep that distinction when you quote us.
Our standards #
- Sources. Facts come from court judgments, official reviews, national statistics, major surveys and primary religious texts. Each is linked in the page's footnotes.
- Dates. Every page shows when it was last updated. Figures say which year or date they cover.
- Disputed numbers. When sources disagree, the page says so and names who gave each figure.
- Opinion. Interpretations are labelled as interpretations and kept apart from facts.
- Quotations. Every Quran verse quoted in the English text is checked by a script against Pickthall's English translation before the site is published.
- Plain language. Sentences are kept short so that readers who are not specialists can follow them.
Corrections #
If you find an error, email corrections@objectiveanalyst.org with the page address and a source for the right fact. We check it against the source. If the page is wrong, we fix the text and the Updated date at the top of that page changes. The corrected text is also what appears in the page's markdown copy, the full-text files and the feed.
Translations #
The translated pages were produced with the help of artificial intelligence and say so. The English page is the reference text. Corrections to a translation go to the same address.
For search engines and AI tools #
- llms.txt: a guide to the site for AI tools, with a line on every page.
- Markdown copy of any English page: add
.mdto its address, for exampleterrorism.html.md. - Full text of every English page, in parts of at most 10,000 words.
- Machine-readable catalogue, sitemap and feed.
Quote freely with a link back to the page. Cite as: The Analyst, "Page title", Fighting Islamists, updated date, address. Each markdown copy gives the exact citation.
